Timing is Everything

Having little free time lately, I am cherishing the bit I am enjoying. I also have been evaluating my life or "reviewing" as my friend Nathan says. With this job, I am having to reconnect with many Old Testament Bible stories that had become a bit hazy in my mind. Alot of prophecying was happening, and oftentimes, people in the Old Testament "got it" wrong. They got the right message, but they wanted it now. They didn't realize that the message may have been for them, but they weren't to be the messenger. The promises were given to them to know but may not have been for them to experience or not as as they imagined. Moses got the promise but didn't get to be part of it. The whole Old Testament got the prophecy of Messiah but most didn't get to experience the fulfilling. It was for another time and another generation.

I am a very impatient person. I like things to be finished now. I like things to be available now. I like what I want now. The United States caters to that side of me and allows me to live with that impatience fairly easily. God does not. As I look back on some of the promises I have been given, I see that I wanted them to happen "now". I assumed they were for now. Some of them still haven't happened later, yet I am understanding that my idea of later is not God's. I anxiously await the day I will be able to gain the patience that allows me to simply enjoy the promise with or without the fullfillment.
