We Made It!

We set out for the top of Olympus pretty early. Breakfast had consisted of toast, jam, honey, and juice, so we were a nice European full, which is not an American full :) We were so excited and ready to do this. Let me tell you, 30 minutes into it we were stopping to take "breathers". It was tougher than we thought. We also felt really out of shape when a German couple around my parent passed us up with no problems. The Germans impressed us all day. They are really in shape. Anyway, the hike was about 3 hours with a little scrambling involved but we made it. It was freezing at the top since we were literally in the clouds. It was so worth it though. Just look at the pics. We also got a great pics of kissing in the clouds! How many people can really say they did that? We stayed at the top for around an hour and then began our journey down so it wouldn't be too late when we got back or too cold. On the way back, we got caught in a hail storm which was freezing and brought us down pretty quickly. We were exhausted that night and ate a huge dinner but so glad we had gone for it. We were also a little smarter and borrowed some extra sleeping bags from the lady running the refuge. We stayed warm and had no bathroom trips that night. It was a truly rewarding day. The size of the mountains and the marvel reminded us of how big God truly and is and how capable He is of anything.
