Mt. Olympus, here we come

Sorry we did not keep our posting updated for the rest of the trip. We are now at my sister's house in Germany where we have unlimited internet access, except when we are playing, so we will update our adventures which were amazing.
Mt. Olympus was one challenge we really wanted to tackle on the trip, but we didn't know if we could do it because there is so little information available on it. We didn't know if it got cold, what kind of gear we needed, etc, but we headed there from Kavala determined to try if it could be done. When we arrived in Lithoro which was the village under Olympus, we found out there was a small refuge halfway up where you could stay so we decided to go that far and then figure the rest out. We were excited and quite fresh at the trail's beginning. The hike was beautiful and the mountains breathtaking. It was a somewhat easy trail at the beginning, but things began changing after 45 minutes. It began to be a straight uphill trail which was ok for us healthy climbers, except for the 15 and 24 pound backpacks. Basically, we could have carried small children on our backs. Whew, it got hot, and Tres was getting a little frustrated. He is not into cardio like I am. We did beat the 5 people in front of us walking without backpacks though. We had never been so glad to see a place in our lives. We made it to the refuge in under 3 hours, and just the view was worth it. What an amazing world we live in.
