Ah, Venice!!!

Venice was wonderful. We had the night to wander around the city and wander we did. We took a water taxi into the city, but afterward, we walked everywhere even back to the ship. We had an authentic Italian dinner which was delicious, ice cream, of course, and just explored. The next day we took off early to see some sights. We went to the Jewish Ghetto -- the first one that was used under Hitler and Mussolini. It was very interesting, but you could still feel a heavy feeling there. The barbed wired is still up on some of the walls around the city square in remembrance of what happened, along with memorials. We went to San Marco square with the famous basillica and took a tour. We couldn't take pictures inside though,. The pic of us is from on top of the Basillica with San Marco square in the back. We got ice cream again, of course that day and pizza. Take a look at the size of the pizzas!!! Tres was in heaven. The pigeons were crazy at the square. You paid one euro to feed them, and they would come all over you, as you can see. It was a little scary but funny. My aunt Barb would have been worried that I would get the bird disesase. Venice was great, and we look forward to going back in late August and celebrating married year #2.
